Funnel Hack: Should You Do it Yourself or Outsource?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. There is no reason you should have to spend countless hours trying to build your own sales funnel from scratch when there are plenty of successful ones already out there. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel. That is essence is what a funnel hack is. You find a successful sales funnel and take bits and pieces to make your funnel as successful as possible. When you are ready for the funnel hack the question becomes, should I do it myself or should I outsource it?
ClickFunnels creator Russell Brunson coined the term “Funnel Hacking” and here is how funnel hack is described on their website.
“Funnel hacking is the process of strategically investigating the sales and marketing process of your competitors and then using that framework to build, test, and optimize your own.”
In other words, you are reverse engineering an already successful funnel, and taking the stuff that best coincides with your funnel. You are not copying another funnel, or ripping someone off. You are seeing what has success and how that can be applied to your online business.
There are many benefits to funnel hacking, including, saving massive amounts of time and money. Getting your sales funnel up and running quickly and cost effectively can lead to more sales and maximize your profit.
There are two ways you can go about a funnel hack. You can either try to do it yourself or you can outsource and have someone else do it for you. Both ways have pros and cons which will be outlined in this post.
Doing it Yourself
1. Good Skill to Learn
If you have the time and are dedicated there are many benefits to funnel hacking yourself. If you are successful you can create more funnels to continue to grow and expand your business. You are then not tied down by an outsourced company. If something goes wrong or needs to be to be fixed you can do it right then and there. You don’t need to wait for a third-party to troubleshoot the issue and then pay them some outrageous fee.
There are plenty of articles and videos out there explaining how to funnel hack. The resources are easily available if you decide to pursue this avenue.
As with most things in life, it’s much cheaper if you can do it by yourself. Provided you know what you are doing. If you are able to use the free resources available to funnel hack, you could easily save yourself hundreds of dollars a month.
Timing and lack of skill can really hold you back. If you don’t know what you are doing it can be especially difficult to figure out even with the help of videos and articles. If you for example don’t have a basic understanding of the technical skills it could take more time than you want to learn that skill just so you can funnel hack. That much time may not be worth it to you. Your time is valuable and could be better off being used on different projects for your business.
Not having the proper skill set could also lead to a very frustrating and detrimental experience. If you decide to try and funnel hack a successful funnel without the necessary skill set or guideline you could become very stressed and frustrated. You could also think your funnel hack was successful but when you try it out for your product it doesn’t work. Now you have wasted valuable time and have nothing to show for it.
If you are looking to outsource your funnel hack, you want someone with the experience and expertise to do it for you. You want someone who can do it properly and much quicker than you could by yourself. A quick Google Search will lead you to many people who offer this service. Here is just one example from clickateam.com on what experience they can provide for you.
“We’ve built over 100 funnels for our clients but have seen more than 5,000.
From service, to webinar, to e-commerce, to online courses, to coaching funnels, you name it. If it exists, we’ve probably seen & built it.
But not only can we build your funnel, we can also funnel-hack your competitor’s funnel to give you a fast start, while you tweak it later.”
If you outsource you can be sure you will get a funnel that is built properly and one that will be successful for you, without all the stress and hassle.
1. Cost and Reliance
Like anything in business nothing is free. If you are going to outsource your funnel hack you are going to pay for it. Many of these companies who build funnels do much more than just funnel hack. So while that may be all that you need you may end up paying for services you won’t use. Many places will offer a free trial before making you pay so you can get an idea of what they provide. After that you are looking at costs anywhere from $300-$500 a month depending on what services you need.
Alternatively you could hire a freelancer to build your funnel for you. This approach is good because you can pay freelancers an hourly rate, rather than pay a service company a monthly fee. However freelance prices can range from $12/hr to $150/hr and you run the risk of varying skill sets and you are not really sure what you are going to get.
At some point problems may arise with your funnel and will need to be fixed. If you don’t know how to do it, then you may need to re-subscribe to that company or go back to that freelancer to correct the issue. Even if it is a simple fix that is more money you have to spend, cutting down your profits.
If you are at the stage in your online business where you are ready for a funnel hack, you need to take a long look in the mirror before deciding if you should do it yourself or outsource it. You have to ask yourself do I have the necessary skill set and if not do I have the time available to learn. There are resources available but this isn’t a simple skill picked up overnight. If you don’t have the time or the skill set do you have the money available to hire someone to do it for you, and can you find someone trustworthy to get it done in a timely and efficient manner. No matter what you decide you need to be sure you are making the right decision for your business.
